Digi already has eSIM: which phones are compatible and how you can activate it for free


Digi continues to be the big winner in portability month after month, but some rivals like O2 are making it increasingly difficult for them. The Romanian operator wants keep your customers happyand for this reason, it has just activated one of the services that were most in demand.

We are talking about the eSIM or virtual SIM, which You can now request for free at Digi. Below, we tell you which mobile phones are compatible with the Digi eSIM, how you can order it and what you should keep in mind.

How to change your physical Digi SIM for the eSIM

Digi has listened to its customers and has settled one of its outstanding accounts. Starting today, if you have a Digi mobile line, you can change your physical SIM for an eSIM completely free of charge. The eSIM orVirtual SIM is integrated into your mobile and works exactly the same as a physical card.

Among other advantages, the eSIM is more convenient because you do not have to physically manipulate it if you change mobile phones, it allowsuse more than one line on the same device (combining more than one eSIM or a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time) and is more sustainable (it eliminates the plastic and transportation of a physical card).

As with the physical Digi SIM, the eSIM can be easily managed from the ‘My DIGI’ app to, for example, turn it off if your phone is lost or stolen, or check the PUK code.

If you are a Digi customer and want to enjoy the eSIM, the first thing you should do is check if your mobile is compatible with this service. You can check the compatible terminals at this link, there are models from Apple, Honor, Huawei, Motorola, Nokia, OPPO, Samsung, TCL, Vivo, Xioami and ZTE.

Afterwards, you can request it for free by calling1200 (from the DIGI network), at 642 642 642 (from another operator) or directly in the ‘My DIGI’ app following these steps:

  • Go into the ‘Services’ tab and, in the ‘eSIM’ section, press ‘Activate’.
  • If you have not done so already, check that your mobile phone is compatible and press ‘Continue’.
  • Enter the validation code that you will receive by SMS.

  • Digi will instantly send you an email with a QR code and the data of your new virtual SIM so that you can activate it on your mobile.

  • From there, the only thing left is configure your device to activate the eSIM option, following the steps in this Android guide or this iOS guide.
