Foamstars took many by surprise when it was first announced. But with the open beta just around the corner, we’ll get an in-depth look at this original 4v4 multiplayer shooter.
Square Enix surprised many of us by announcing the third-person shooter, Foamstars. This original and chaotic shooter is something to look forward toespecially if you’re a fan of Overwatch or Splatoon
We start with a catchy, catchy song and Immerse yourself in an action-packed PvP game that has the potential to be much more than just a “Splatoon clone”. As we approach the open beta at the end of September, we’ll see just how exciting the game is.

Foamstars: release date and time
THE Foamstars Open Beta begins September 30 and lasts until October 2, 2023. This gives you an entire weekend to dive into the moss and try the game for yourself!
- The server will be operational at 6:00 p.m. PDT/9:00 p.m. EDT/2:00 a.m. BST.
- The server will be offline to midnight PDT/3:00 a.m. EDT/8:00 a.m. BST
In this game, moss is the ultimate resource. “It can be used in several ways: to create slippery surfaces that players can use to surf at high speeds around the arena; to build terrain, help players defend against enemy attacks, or create high vantage points to eliminate opponents; and finally, whip up the opposition and win the match.
The Open Beta gives you access to two battle modes, a tutorial, challenges, and character customization.
Foamstars: Platforms
As for now, Foamstars will only be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 look alike. It is unclear whether PC or Xbox players will also have access. Given Splatoon’s significant presence on Switch, we don’t think Foamstars will ever release on Nintendo Switch.
Foam stars: characters
With the latest trailer, we got a good look at the quirky and colorful cast of athletes competing in the Foamsmash tournament. Each Foamstar uses their own foam gun and skills for combat..
Here are the characters you can play as:
- Soa – the “Stylish Idol” with the Dual Pistol “Twinkle Groove”
- I act – the “Pro-Gamer” with the “Muramasa” Shotgun
- Tonix – the “Genius Inventor” with the “Her Majesty Queen Soda” Burst Rifle
- Jet Justice – the peacekeeper “Civilian Hero” with the shotgun “Jet Blaster”
- Pen Gwyn – the “Penguin Soldier” – who fights against global warming, with the “PNG-90S” assault rifle
- Rave Breaker – “The Sanitizer” wants to eliminate everyone with the Wide Hose “World Sanitizer”
- The barista – the “Gentle and Generous” gentleman with the Long Hose “Coffee Breaker”
- Melt – the “Innocent and Cute” poster with the “Heartful Delivery” missile launcher
