How to prevent other people from finding you using your phone number on Facebook

We are going to explain to you how to prevent other people from finding you using your phone number on Facebook. If you have not done so yet, the social network will insist on you over and over again until you add a phone number to your profile. This is somewhat useful, but makes it possible for other people to find your profile by searching for this number on Facebook.

And that is what we are going to teach you to avoid. First we will tell you how to configure Facebook so that only those who have already added you as a friend can find you, a useful step to maximize your privacy. But if you want nobody canAs this cannot be configured, we will also teach you how to delete your phone number, which is the only alternative currently.

Limit who can find you with your phone number

Let’s start by explaining to you how to limit who can find you on Facebook using your phone number, or at least the one you have linked to your social network account. We are going to explain two ways to do it, first from the Facebook website on your computer and then using its mobile application.

Limit your mobile searches on the Facebook website

We are going to start, as we have told you, by explaining how to configure on the web who can look for you by your phone number. To start, click on the drop-down menu that appears when you click on the downward triangle icon in the upper right corner of the screen. A menu will be displayed, in which you must click on the Settings option.

Once you are in the Facebook settings, click on the Privacy option (1) that you will find in the left column of the screen. And once inside, in the section How people can find you and get in touch with you, click on the Edit option of Who can find you with the phone number you have provided? (two).

When you click the Edit button, the window will expand so that you can choose between Everyone, Friends of friends and Friends when they can look for you on your phone. If you want maximum privacy you should choose Friends so that only those who already have you added to Facebook can find you by typing your phone in the Facebook search engine, but you can also choose that their friends or everyone can find you through it.

Limit your mobile searches in the Facebook app

Now we are going to explain how to do exactly the same, but using the Facebook mobile application. The first thing you have to do is click on the options icon (1) that you have in the upper right corner of the application. When they show up, open the Settings and privacy section and click on Settings (two).

Once you are in the Settings menu, go down to the Privacy section and click on the Privacy Settings option that you are going to find yourself in the first place within that configuration.

Once you enter the Privacy Settings options, you have to go down to where it says How people can find you and contact you, where you should click on the option Who can find you with the phone number you have provided? In doing so, as on the web, you can choose between Everyone, Friends of friends and Friends so they can find your profile by typing your phone in the Facebook search engine.

So that NOBODY finds you with your phone number .. delete it!

If what you want is that no one can find your profile by looking for your phone numberNot even those who already have you added as a friend, the only thing you can do is delete the phone that you have configured in your profile. With this you will gain in privacy, although you will be left without the classic two-step method of using it to confirm your identity. We remind you how to do it both on the web and in the mobile app.

Delete your phone from the Facebook website

To delete your phone number through its website with your computer or laptop, once you are on the main screen, click on the icon of the down arrow that you have at the top right. A menu will be displayed, in which you must click on the Configure option (1) to enter Facebook settings.

Once inside the configuration, click on the Mobile section of the left column (1) to see the mobile settings on Facebook. Once in it, click on the Delete button at the top below the number (2) to start the delete process.

Facebook will ask you if you are sure you want to delete your phone number. To keep moving forward, in the answers in this pop-up menu click on the option Delete phone to configure that you want to get ahead.

Finally, Facebook will ask you to enter your password again to verify your identity. Here all you have to do is write your password and click on the Send option to definitively proceed to delete your phone number.

Delete your phone from the Facebook app

To delete your phone number from Facebook through the mobile app, you first have to enter its general settings. For that, once inside click on the options menu with the icon of the three horizontal lines (1) that you have in the upper part of the app. Among the options, click on Settings and privacy (2) to display your options, and between them now click on Settings (3).

Once you have entered the Settings menu, now click on the option Personal information that you have at the beginning of everything, and that is inside the Account Settings section. This is where you can access your main personal data.

You will enter a screen where your name, email address and phone number will appear. In her, click on your phone number to access the options related to it.

You will enter the Text Messages Settings screen. In it, you just have to go to the Current phone numbers section, and click on the Delete option below the number you want to delete.

Finally, you will go to a screen where you have to confirm your identity to proceed with the deletion. In her, type your Facebook password and press the Delete phone button and you will have completed the operation, Facebook will delete that phone number.
