M. Night Shyamalan presents us with the first trailer for his daughter’s debut film, and it is as terrifying as any of his films

She is 23 years old and is ready to shoulder the legacy that her father has left in the cinema: Ishana Shyamalan, until now, has worked mainly with her father, M. Night Shyamalan as writer and director on ‘Servant’ and as second unit director on ‘Time’. That has not mattered to him when it came to taking the leap alone with ‘The Watchers’, a horror film that, in tone, it could be confused with one of its parent. Nepobabies for the bad, but also for the good.

You have an ishana wound

In ‘The Watchers’, of which we already have the first teaser, we will see Mina, a 28-year-old artist who ends up lost in a gigantic forest of the west of Ireland that no human has ever set foot before. When you find shelter, she will be trapped with three strangers watched and harassed every night by mysterious creatures. If you are intrigued, wait until you find out who is in the cast, because not all directors of debut films are this lucky.

Dakota Fanning will play Mina after working with Quentin Tarantino or Ewan McGregor. The actress usually chooses her projects very carefully., so we will have to see what twists in the script they surprise us with. Joining her will be Oliver Finnegan, Olwen Fouéré and Georgina Campbell, best known for starring in ‘Barbarian’.

‘The Watchers’ will be released in theaters on June 7 and is based on the novel of the same name by AM Shine. Curiously, This was one of the few films that could be shot during the actors’ strike due to an internal agreement, and that is why it will be released in a cinematic summer that seems practically deserted. Is it time to lock ourselves in a cabin too?
