Owners of a PlayStation 5 can get a new update today. Sony has released a new PS5 update, which brings many changes.
As has been the case with many previous PS5 firmware updates, Sony is once again keeping the latest patch secret. According to the publisher, update 22.01-05.02.00 ensures that the ‘system performance of the PlayStation 5 is improved’. It is not clear what exactly the update changes.

But the update that PS5 owners can now download is more than one patch, because the update is twofold. The other PS5 update, 22.01-05.00.00 brings many changes, as can be read in the patch notes.
What does the PS5 update add?
For example, Game Base is now divided into three different tabs, namely Friends, Parties and Messages. If you’re wondering what Parties are exactly, those are voice chats, because Sony has changed the name with the patch. With the update it is now also possible to start an open party or closed party, where only people you have invited can come to a closed party.

Sony has also made finding and rejecting friends a bit easier. For example, you can search for friends and now find them under the Friends tab. A Decline button has now been added if you don’t want them as a friend in your list.
To make the PlayStation 5 as accessible as possible, Sony has also added a number of options. For example, the screen reader has been given six new languages, including Dutch. In addition, you can now control your PS5 with your voice, if you enable the option, by first saying “Hey, PlayStation!” to call. That feature was tested earlier this year with certain users.
