Nintendo Switch Pro Controller lights up blue: How to deactivate?

If you connect your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to your PC using a USB-C cable, you may be surprised why the controller, or more precisely the home button, suddenly lights up blue. When you connect the Pro Controller to the Nintendo Switch, it usually doesn’t light up blue. The question arises, why is this the case on the PC and how can you deactivate the blue light on the Pro Controller?

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: Disable blue light around home button

While the blue lamp on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is not particularly noticeable during the day, it can be a bit annoying at night or when playing in a dark room if the home button on the controller lights up blue. Since we are probably not the only users of a Switch Pro Controller on the PC who are bothered by the blue light, here is a quick tip on how you can easily deactivate the blue LED.

If you have connected the Pro Controller to the PC via the USB cable, you simply have to press the pairing button once (on the top left of the USB-C port). The blue LED should then be switched off and you can continue to use the Pro Controller on the PC and play with it.

You can of course reactivate the blue LED on your PC at any time using the same steps. To do this, simply press the pairing button once and after a short delay the blue light around the home button will be activated again. Unlike the PS5 controller, for example, it is not possible to change the color of the home button.
