Playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on Steam Deck is not a question of yes or no, as it will require certain sacrifices

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 promises to be (if only by numbers) one of the most notable releases of 2023. After all, it belongs to one of the largest franchises in the world. This also means that expectations are very high and that, in addition, quite a few players ask themselves very different questions. One of the most frequent, especially for PC users, is whether or not it will be compatible with Steam Deck.

Fortunately, It seems that it will be, although not in the best way. As PCGamesN has revealed, the new CoD will be able to run on Valve’s portable computer console. Now, it will be necessary to have Windows 11 installed on the console to be able to use it, as it includes Ricochet anti-cheat technology.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be compatible with Steam Deck, but not natively

This means that, basically, the game will not have native compatibility with Steam Deck. Unless it is executed differently in the latter, it seems somewhat unlikely even though we can run it from the Steam store completely naturally. Without a doubt, it is bad news, sinceIt will force you to change the operating system just to enjoy it on our console.

At the moment, neither Valve nor Activision have commented on this issue, so, until further notice, this will be mandatory. The only hope that this will change in the future is that Steam develop a version of Proton specifically for CoD: MW3.

Considering that they haven’t said anything yet, It looks like it won’t be soon, if at all.. Therefore, although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be compatible with the Steam Deck, it will force us to make certain sacrifices, installing Windows 11 if we want to enjoy it out on our console-laptop.
