Pokémon Go you have, at this moment, a multitude of creatures available that you can capture and, in this way, fill your Pokédex. The number is always varying, and it depends on whether you also consider the Alolan forms or Mega Evolutions, but the amount of Pokémon in Pokémon Go could be well above 700.

Still, there are no Pokémon more fascinating than the Mythical Pokémon and in this guide, we will then look at the best Pokémon Mythic Pokémon from Pokémon Go. Don’t forget to also check out our list of the best Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go!

The best Pokémon Go Mythical Pokémon

What is the difference between a Legendary and Mythic Pokémon?

First of all, have you ever wondered what is the difference between a Mythical Pokémon and a Legendary Pokémon? Well, to put it simply, a Legendary Pokémon is one that people know exists, but that has some extraordinary power or an important role in the game’s lore. A Mythical Pokémon, in turn, is one that is spoken in hushed whispers or great tales and there are only rumors that it really exists. In addition, Mythic Pokémon are generally weaker than Legendary Pokémon, but on the other hand, they are also rarer and more difficult to obtain.

Now that the distinction is made, let’s move on to the list of the best Mythical Pokémon in Pokémon Go:

Celebi

In addition to Celebi being added with Generation 2 (perhaps one of the best generations ever!), This little Pokémon is absolutely adorable. While it may not be powerful, the time travel skills are really interesting when it comes to the lore of the game.

Unfortunately, when it comes to Pokémon Go, Celebi is not exactly a good choice if we are thinking strategically – it is more a matter of pride and status, since his stats are not strong.

Either way, it is always a good idea to fill in Pokédex entries and, in the case of Celebi, you can obtain it through the special mission A Ripple in Time.

victine

In Pokémon battles, all that matters is that you win. What if you could get a Pokémon that would guarantee your victory each time you fight? Victini may not look like much more than a cute bunny-like creature, but don’t be fooled by her looks! In addition to being the champion of victory, supposedly, the energy contained in this tiny being is unlimited and touching it will give you a boost of energy.

Victini also has a special place in Pokédex – if you look closely at Unova Dex from Pokémon Go, Victini appears before Snivy, which is not at all normal!

Jirachi

Can you look at Jirachi and not get absolutely melted? Supposedly, this Pokémon grants wishes that are written on the notes attached to its head. You write and attach notes while Jirachi sleeps, and when he wakes up, your wish is granted. Another interesting observation is that he has automatic self-defense and will fight even while he sleeps.

Like many other Mythical Pokémon on this list, Jirachi can be obtained through the special Millennial Sleep mission – if you don’t already have it, consult our guide and check the steps you need to complete.

Meltan / melmetan

Meltan first appeared on Pokémon GO, during a small surprise event where he was introduced after one of the monthly Community Days. If you tried to capture him during the event, they would turn into a Ditto. After that, Professor Willow and Professor Oak presented some story-based videos to introduce the new Pokémon.

By opening a special event box that was directly linked to Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, you could capture Meltan. By obtaining 400 candies, you could evolve it into Melmetal, thus becoming the first Mythic with the ability to evolve!

Meltan can also be obtained through the “Come on, Meltan” Mission.

Deoxys

Deoxys is a bipedal Pokémon similar to an alien that has four Forms, each focused on a different statistic: Normal, Attack, Defense and Speed.

Deoxys has its genesis in real science. The name is a direct reference to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). The shape of the Pokémon makes direct reference to a double helix. If that is not enough, three of the forms it can take, as we said earlier, are called Attack, Defense and Normal (DNA).

If Deoxys’ lore is not enough to move you, then I really don’t know what else I can say about this fantastic Mythical Pokémon. If you want to know your counters and how to beat the Deoxys raid, consult our dedicated guide.

Genesect

Genesect is a mythical Pokémon, which means that it is extremely powerful regardless of whatever comes your way. Waiting for a version with a high IV and giving it the right set of moves will make it even more amazing.

Genesect is weak only against the fire type, although its insect / steel type makes it doubly effective. All other types can barely do damage, especially with resistance to dragon, ice, steel, normal, psychic, fairy, insect, poison and grass.

Genesect is actually an ancient fossil Pokémon, having been revived and modernized with a cybernetic cannon. Its design is probably one of the most amazing parts about it; there is something fascinating about seeing giant robot insects.

Darkrai

This list of the best Mythical Pokémon in Pokémon GO could not be complete without Darkrai, the Pokémon that literally has the word “dark” in its name.

Darkrai is a wickedly rare Dark Pokémon that can be an invaluable fighter in battle. His best attacks are Snarl and Dark Pulse. Darkrai can be a valuable member for Pokémon Go trainers to have on their team, as it is a difficult Pokémon to obtain. Darkrai can be obtained in raids and don’t forget to consult Darkrai’s counters in our dedicated guide.

Mew

Mewtwo took the first place on the podium of our list with the best Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go and, in this list of the best Mythical Pokémon in the game, it is his brother Mew who wins the gold.

Mew may be at the “origin” of all Pokémon in the lore of the series, but not including this beautiful pink kitten-shaped ball would not go well with Pokémon fans. Mew was the first Mythical Pokémon, now taking the place of one of the cutest and most promising Pokémon, highly adored by fans. To obtain it, you must complete the A Mythical Discovery mission.
