Sekiro Controller doesn’t work: Use PS4 controller on PC

How to play Sekiro on PC with a PS4 controller? What can I do if the controller is not recognized and not working in Sekiro? A few days ago the new title called Sekiro Shadows The Twice from the developer studio From Software, which is best known for the Dark Souls series, was released. If you don’t play the game on the console but on the PC, you will probably want to do this with a PS4 controller or Xbox One controller, after all, the game was developed for gamepad control and plays much better with it. If you start the game via Steam and try to use the controller, you will probably have a problem because the controller is not recognized and does not work. The question arises, does the PC version have no controller support or am I just doing something wrong?

Play Sekiro on PC with PS4 controller

If you want to play Sekiro on the PC with the controller, this is possible without any problems, although it is a bit complicated. First of all, it should be said that there are various methods with which you can get the controller to work in the game, this is just a suggested solution. The solution is to start the game via Steam Big Picture Mode and then load the appropriate controller configuration.

  1. Start Steam, open the “Display” sub-item in the menu bar at the top and open the Big Picture mode here.
  2. First check in the settings whether the controller is recognized at all. If this has not yet been set up, you must click on the gear symbol at the top, open the controller settings and activate the respective configuration assistant here (PlayStation configuration assistant for PS4 controllers).
  3. Then open the library, select Sekiro and open “Controller Configuration” under “Manage Game”.
  4. Here you can carry out a manual configuration. The easiest way is to download a ready-made configuration that is already available for Sekiro (e.g. Sekiro DS4 Pad).
  5. Save the changes, start Sekiro and the PS4 controller should be recognized and used in the game.
