Sims 4: Bathing and washing your dog

With the “Dogs and Cats” expansion, you can now expand your household in The Sims 4 to include one or more four-legged friends. There are numerous different dog breeds and cat breeds that can be added to the household either during creation or later. It is also possible to adopt a dog or cat and add it to the household. If you get a dog, you also have to take care of the animal’s everyday needs. This not only includes the “classic things” like feeding or making sure the dog can do its business, but also care. In this context, one or two players probably ask themselves the question, how can you bathe and wash a dog?

Bathe and clean dog

Unlike cats, which can clean themselves and do not need to be bathed, dogs need to be bathed regularly. The option to “bathe your dog” can be found under “animal care” and the “bathing” menu item. In order for the option to be selected, you must have a bathtub in your own four walls. Even smaller dogs cannot be bathed in a larger sink or shower, but only in a real bathtub. The bathtub is necessary for both smaller dogs and larger dogs, regardless of the dog breed.

  1. Buy a bathtub and install it in the house (if you don’t already have one)
  2. Click on the dog and select the “Bathing” option under “Care”.

Can’t bathe the dog?

After the release of the “Dogs and Cats” expansion, there have been some reports that you cannot bathe the animals. The reason for this seems to be installed mods or CCs that do not yet support the new Sims 4 expansion. Whoever has the problem should first buy a normal bathtub and place it in the house. Alternatively, you should deactivate or update mods that interact with the animals or the bathtubs.
