Steam: the latest update brings Notes and a more precise search

Today, Steam is getting a new update that is full of new features, both in terms of the interface and the features. The most interesting is probably the integration of Notes, which can be mistaken for a game and displayed as an overlay. Valve has also improved game search and tweaked the design of its client a bit.

Opening Steam today, you may notice a few changes within Valve’s client. Indeed, the firm has just rolled out a new update, which brings several of the new features that were still in beta until now. In particular, we were talking to you last month about the new game search, which is much more precise. This is now available to the general public.

Concretely, Steam is now based on the searches carried out by the players to offer more adequate results. For example, if you search for a license or a development studio, the client will display the most popular game among these. But this is not the only novelty, since Valve has also added several widgets that can be selected.

Steam now lets you take notes on your favorite games

Among these are the Notes, which, as their name suggests, allow you to take notes on your games in progress. An NPC that you plan to see again later, the location of a chest to open, all of this can now be kept in these small documents so you won’t forget them again. Better still, it is possible to display its notes in overlay of your game, as well as to save them in the cloud.

Finally, Valve has made some minor visual changes to Steam, including a new font on the Desktop version, as well as a new design for the notifications tab. Same story on the side of downloads, which now display the game icon to better navigate. Added to all of this are the usual few bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is available on Desktop and smarpthone.
