Since its launch, Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s matchmaking has been a disaster. The patch two weeks ago was supposed to fix the problem but didn’t. Was the one last Thursday successful? Not so sure.
The 523MB patch is supposed to fix “a number of matchmaking issues, several interface and group bugs, and also improve general stability,” according to Halo Waypoint. SamaGame says they’re still working on the game while other patches are in the works, not to mention their comment that they were going to “do it right” for fans. Days before the New York City Marathon, Harvard physics professor Jenny Hoffman ran more than 3,000 miles from San Francisco to New York.
Hoffman, 45, set out in September to break the women’s Guinness World Record for the fastest crossing of America on foot. Hoffman said she was always intrigued by crossing the country and was inspired by Villines and Pete Kostelnick, who holds the men’s record. She made the trip on foot rather than by bike due to her running experience.
Hoffman has been a competitive runner for over 20 years. Although she has run many marathons, she excels at ultrarunning, which involves longer distances than the marathon. She has won the US National 24 Hour Track and Field Championship three times – in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Crossing the United States on foot seemed like the next challenge. She actually attempted to cross the country in 2019, but had to stop 400 miles from her goal after tearing the meniscus on her right side.

Ryan Reynolds continues to take over Netflix. After 6 Underground and Red Notice, the actor starred in a new time travel action film, The Adam Project. Almost until its release, the film was a dark horse – the streaming service scored completely with advertising, but in vain. I managed to see the project and am ready to share my impressions.
What is “Project Adam” about?
Adam Reid is a time travel pilot. Escaping from the year 2050, he mistakenly ends up in the year 2022. A man (of school age) finds himself in the past and talks about the purpose of the trip – to find his mysteriously disappeared wife.
Now our hero, in the person of two people, must simultaneously unravel the events of the past, uncover a conspiracy and at the same time come to terms with the loss of his father, who died in an accident.
Netflix movies have never had overly twisted plots. Project Adam is no exception. You should not expect any special intrigue, and they are not trying to create it. We are quickly introduced to a villain whose motives almost exactly copy Biff’s idea from Back to the Future. The film runs a little under two hours, so the characters don’t have time to think about what happened.
Unexpectedly, it turned out that the film with Reynolds was not just another story about Deadpool. The director of the picture, who already worked with the actor on Free Guy, showed that he can perfectly combine light comedy with a million references to modern culture and serious dramatic themes. The formula also works successfully with “Adam”.
The film is perfectly fine with humor – the jokes are not vulgar and only in the right places. The fights segue seamlessly into philosophical discussions about the “butterfly effect,” and the second nature of the story is offset by a more personal and down-to-earth presentation.
A distinctive feature of the picture was an unusual approach to the essence of temporary movements. A trained observer is used to the fact that two identical people should never overlap. In this case, they spit on all the rules from the first minutes. It’s nice that the film gives explanations as to why nothing terrible will happen. This concept is rarely found in well-known works and therefore seems fresh.
Characters and actors
The chemistry between the characters is the best part of the picture. It was particularly successful in showing Adam in different time periods. It’s hard to expect incredible drama from Ryan Reynolds, but here he pleasantly surprised. The image of a ___y but sad and tired man of 40 suits the famous joker no less than Deadpool’s red mask.
Not far behind the older friend and a young actor – Walker Scobell (Walker Scobell). His Adam successfully combines the naivety of a child with the seriousness of a man who has survived a family tragedy. Usually, children in such projects are either annoying or become the butt of jokes. A good balance was found in the film, so it is interesting to see the tandem of a boy and a man united by a grief.
Reynolds managed not only to play the character, but also to make the characters of young and adult Adams the same. This is not just a relationship between a pilot from the future and a schoolboy, but literally a hero who is amused and annoyed by the same things.
Both versions go their own path of development and rethink some of the views and beliefs. Self-talk has never been more thoughtful – we’re seeing “talking to your inner child” in real life.
The supporting characters are also gone. They are shown schematically, but they are remembered and look alive. I would like to say a few words about Father Adam. He is played by the much loved Mark Ruffalo. Surprisingly, this character also has his own solid storyline.
It seems that the director was much more interested in accurately showing the relationship between father and son rather than a hurricane action film, which is more of a plus in this case.
Villainy of Catherine Keener (Catherine Keener) does not cause any special emotions. As I wrote above, their motivation is obvious. Adam claims that in the future a woman will hold the whole world under her heel, but we are not shown this. It is strange that such an influential person catches a dangerous traitor with only a detachment of soldiers.
The missing woman is played by Zoe Saldana-Perego. There is very little of her in the film and all explanations are spoilers. Gamora keeps the overall high level of performance within reasonable limits and thus becomes a pleasant addition to the powerful cast.
Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana are A-list stars who have agreed to work with Netflix. If “Project Adam” is successful, and judging by the reviews from critics and viewers, we should expect a few in other films.

To music from Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet, Romeo and Juliet (1935), the Dior Men fashion show thus unveiled a contained collection, high couture – the models were literally raised above the public during the final tableau – and worked from the signature uniform of the dancer of ballet. From the leotard to the dancing shoe, Kim Jones diverts the wardrobe of the little opera rats, while focusing on the pieces which have, until now, been the heydays of Dior’s men’s wardrobe.
The ballerina, a new fashion essential?
The bags, for example, are visible throughout the collection: the small functional sizes in blue crocodile-effect leather, or even the textured white backpacks set with hand-drawn patterns. But, and this is more surprising from Kim Jones for Dior Men, the real UFOs of the show are the ballerinas present almost everywhere throughout the collection, worn most often with shorts and large pulled-up socks.
Available in almost all sizes, the Dior men’s ballerina by Kim Jones is available in leather, suede, and in beige or black. The more than obvious inspiration? The dance shoe. After the ballerinas signed The Row, Celine or Alaïa, the emblematic shoe of Y2K fashion, which was for a long time one of the neglected ones of fashion, is undoubtedly back in 2024. Regardless of the gender this time, style-savvy men will now walk flat like their female counterparts. Not sure, however, that the street is ready to adopt the masculine ballerina.
The Ami show is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Paris Men’s Fashion Week and this season is no exception to the rule. On this fourth day of Parisian fashion shows, Alexandre Mattiussi, founder and designer of the brand, invited his audience to take a seat in front of a reconstruction of the facade of a Haussmann building. An ode to the City of Lights which was also reflected through the brand’s fall-winter 2024-2025 collection. Here are all the highlights to remember.
The highlights of the Ami fall-winter 2024-2025 fashion show
Alexandre Mattiussi is used to big surprises. After Audrey Tautou, Vincent Cassel, Isabelle Adjani and Charlotte Rampling, the designer also welcomed several personalities this season. From the start of her show, singer Lou Doillon appeared in a long brown double-breasted coat and a pair of lace-up leather boots. Actress Diane Kruger in a midnight blue suit followed, before giving way to Laetitia Casta who closed the show with elegance thanks to her enveloping coat tied at the waist.
The front row of the Ami show is often one of the most complete of the Paris Fashion Week shows. The French were also well represented with Vincent Cassel, Isabelle Adjani, Panayotis Pascot, Mélanie Thierry, Guillaume Diop and Juliette Binoche. The latter was also seated next to the American actress Fran Drescher, known worldwide for her role as Fran Fin in the series A Nanny from Hell. Alexandre Mattiussi was able to count on the support of young talents from across the Atlantic including Dominique Fishback (Swarm), Ross Lynch and Hunter Doohan (Wednesday).
Plunged into darkness, the scene of the new Ami fashion show was inspired by the dawn breaking over Paris. An image that seemed to run through this fall-winter 2024-2025 collection composed of elevated essentials thanks to the creativity of Alexandre Mattiussi. The latter relied on the essentials of our wardrobe such as the long coat or suit pants to offer versions that are both elegant and melancholy. The cuts, always very precise at Ami, this time welcome softened volumes and a form of reverie characteristic of this new collection.

In the most recent version of MIUI 14, the company’s custom layer based on Android, the system includes a new function that allows force the refresh rate to 120 Hz in any application, in order to guarantee the greatest fluidity and the best user experience.
120 Hz on the screen, even by force
Many Xiaomi phones allow you to select the refresh rate of their screens in the device configuration menu, being able to choose between 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 120 Hz on smartphones that have this feature in their technical sheet. But still, sometimes, some applications run at a maximum of 60 Hz, even when the smartphone screen has a faster refresh rate. This translates into less fluidity in the imageand in image flickers when there is a variation in the refresh rate between applications.
It is this problem that attacks the recent MIUI 14 update that is becoming available, first in China. The MIUI version in question is the V14.0.10.0.TLECNXM, as reported in GizmoChina. For now, the brand has only released it for the Xiaomi 12S Pro, and mentions the following in the changelog included in the version, as revealed by IT Home:

According to images published by IT Home of the changes in the system, the mobile now allows you to select between a “standard” and a “high” refresh rate for force greater fluidity in own or third-party applications. In other words, if the Xiaomi mobile has a 120Hz screen, you can force those 120Hz in any application that, for some reason, does not exceed 60Hz. This can be configured from the MIUI settings menu.
This update still does not have a release date for the rest of the territories, but we hope to see it soon on all compatible Xiaomi, POCO or Redmi devices, while Xiaomi is working on what will be the launch of its next major operating system update, MIUI 15 .
