The mother of a 29-year-old man who was punched, stabbed and left for dead in a wealthy Sydney suburb is battling cancer and is devastated by ‘her baby’.
Dejan ‘Danny’ Radulovic was beaten and stabbed multiple times in the chest by two men around 3.40pm on Saturday on Donnelly Street in Balmain, in the city’s mid-west.
His killers fled the scene in a white Jeep, before dumping it and setting it on fire on a residential street in nearby Five Dock. They are still on the run.
The young victim was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but doctors were unable to save his life.
Mr Radulovic was on parole for supplying drugs at the time, and police suspect the attack was a drug-related dispute.
A family friend told Daily Mail Australia that Mr Radulovic’s mother, Liliana Jovanovic, was heartbroken – “she is in a lot of pain”, they said.
“She has cancer, she needs back surgery due to her condition and it makes life extremely difficult for her to move around without help. »
“She needs stable accommodation, because she is in temporary accommodation and it is not fair for her to be in this position living what she is. »

The family friend explained that Ms Jovanovic’s other son had been in mental health care for a week and that Mr Radulovic was “his baby”.
“He will forever be loved, cherished and missed not only by his family, but also by his friends and those who had the opportunity to hear how much his mother loves him,” the friend said.
“May Danny rest in peace.
Mr Radulovic’s self-proclaimed sister Dolliana said she would ‘never get over’ his death, adding that there were things she wanted to tell him but the opportunity was snatched away.
“I just hope he rests in peace,” she said.
“He was a real human being. He was so good to everyone around him. My heart hurts to talk about it. It was not his time.
Ms Jovanovic wrote her own tribute to her son the day after his death on Sunday evening.
‘To all friends and family just to let you know that (a) tragedy has happened,’ she wrote on Facebook.
‘There is (a) gathering organized in memory of my son Danny, everyone is welcome.
Friends and family flooded the comments section with tributes – remembering him as a ‘special’ person with the ‘kindest heart’.
Her sister Lara said: “My brother/best friend is gone and I can’t believe I’m not in Sydney to attend his funeral.”

Police believe Mr Radulovic had low-level links to organized crime.
He was paroled in April after serving nine of a 16-month prison sentence for supplying drugs.
He was also convicted of possession of a prohibited weapon without a license and possession of ammunition, and was sentenced to a community correction order which was still in effect at the time of his death.
Detective Chief Inspector Grant Watson of Leichhardt Command said on Sunday that police were investigating links to organized crime.
“The two men involved in this incident are described as Maori or Pacific Islander,” he said.
“They were seen fleeing a burning vehicle and then entered another vehicle which was a light colored Toyota Hilux. »
