Cyberpunk 2077 | Runs at 60fps more consistently on PS5, better resolution on Xbox Series X

Cyberpunk 2077 test on PS5, Xbox Series S and X

Cyberpunk 2077 it was finally released after so many years and those playing on PS4 and Xbox One were not exactly happy with the game. The basic consoles of the generation feature low resolution, lack of details and erratic frame rates that can drop up to 15 fps.

Digital Foundry recently tested the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S and found that the experience has been greatly improved, although surprisingly different from console to console.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is running for backward compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the Microsoft console offers a few more options. On PS5, you’re stuck with the PS4 Pro’s settings and resolution, which peaks at 1188p. On the Xbox Series X, you can choose between Performance mode, which is 1080p / 60fps, and Quality mode, which runs between 1512p and 1728p and adds a little more visual brilliance, including greater crowd density, ambient occlusion and reflections more detailed, all at 30fps.

In terms of performance, the PS5 maintains very stable 60fps, with occasional drops to the 50s while driving. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X’s performance mode fights more than the PS5, dropping to 40fps during more frantic shootings. As for the XSX’s quality mode, it appears to be locked at 30fps.

The Xbox Series S, the least powerful console from Microsoft, offers only one visual mode, although it appears to carry most of its graphics settings from the X quality mode. The Series S works with a maximum resolution of 1296p and 30fps almost blocked, although you experience some occasional drops in the mid 20fps.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4 and can be played on Xbox Series X / S and PS5 for backward compatibility.
