Even though there is no real voice output or synchronization in Pokemon games, the subtitles are of course displayed in German. If you want to play a game in English on the Nintendo Switch, it is usually enough to select the desired language in the system settings under the “Console” menu item and start the game again. Many games use the set system language and change the game language when you change the system language. However, this does not apply to all games on the Nintendo Switch, including Pokemon Sword & Shield.
According to our research, you can only select the game language in Pokemon Sword & Shield once when starting the game. A subsequent change of the language is probably not possible. So if you want to play the game in English or another language, you have to create a new user and then create a second save game. Alternatively, you can of course delete your old Pokemon Sword & Shield save game and start a new game with the same user.
