With the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July, reports have surfaced about the next generation of Galaxy devices. As for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (Pro), it is very likely that the final processor for the upcoming Galaxy smartwatches has been decided.
The processor for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6
Over a month ago it was reported that Samsung could equip the Galaxy Watch 6 with a new Exynos W980 chipset. This processor is said to offer a small speed boost compared to the W920 SoC that powers the current Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series.
Based on the new Bluetooth certification uncovered by well-known leaker Tech_Reve, the chip will feature Bluetooth 5.3 and will go by the product name S5E5515. Of course, the SoC will be built into the W930 model instead of the W980 model that was previously rumored. And that’s very fitting, too, given the alleged small improvements.
It’s still unclear what advantages the processor has over the W920, aside from the 10 percent CPU speed increase. However, it is speculated that it will be made using the same 5nm manufacturing process but with more efficient lithography or binning. Ultimately, this could lead to better battery life for the Galaxy Watch 6. A goal that pretty much every smartwatch on the market is pursuing. Aside from the processor, other certifications have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 duo will come with bigger batteries. The Pro model, on the other hand, should get the rotating bezel back. They will run the new “One UI 5 Watch OS” based on Android 13, while the loading speed is said to be identical to its predecessors.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is expected to be unveiled at the company’s next Unpacked event in late July in South Korea. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 as well as the more robust Galaxy Tab S9 will also be presented at the same event.
