Square Enix leaks Star Ocean 2 remake

Which can be a great entry point into the franchise.

Star Ocean is a relatively little-known franchise within its genre.

Square Enix is, without a doubt, one of the most important companies in our sector, and probably the most important third party publisher in this country, something especially true if we focus on role-playing games. Unfortunately, and despite the fact that it is a company that has always been in very good shape, we cannot say that all its franchises are equally successful. This is the case of Star Ocean, which has not achieved the popularity of other franchises from the same studio, such as Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, despite the great quality that they concentrate in their hours of play.

Even so, and to the joy of many users, we are living in the Square Enix era in which they seem to want to bet on some of their great classics, regardless of how popular they are. In this line, we have now been able to know, due to a leak, that would be in development of Star Ocean 2and curiously it has been Square Enix itself who has leaked it.

As reported by RPG Site, a website dedicated to this kind of video game, it was the developer herself who ended up filtering the game on her support page. Specifically, we are talking about a title that It’s called “Star Ocean: The Second Story R”which would be just what we have mentioned, a remake of the second installment of this franchise.

Of course, not many other details are known, and the image has been immediately removed from this same Square Enix website, which adds more credibility to this. For now, we can only wait for the publisher to decide to announce it officially.

A classic of the genre is back

Many times we put aside the Star Ocean franchise, something we also do with other classics of the genre that we should keep in mind. In case you have never been able to play a title from this franchise, and you like JRPGs, this remake of the second installment is probably a great gateway, since it would be expected to be very faithful to the original, at the same time that essential changes are made today.
