Casting for The Witcher’s Most Beautiful Character is…

The casting director of Netflix’s The Witcher series recently revealed that their casting of Yennefer of Vengerberg is meant to ‘defy’ beauty standards.

The Witcher on Netflix features some of the finest cast members of any series to ever grace the Netflix library. Let’s be honest, Henry Cavill alone would have been enough to make this claim true, and there’s also Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and many more. So how come the show’s casting director revealed that one of them is supposed to “defy” beauty standards.

In an interview with Variety, The Witcher casting director revealed that Vengerberg’s Yennefer casting was intended. It’s unclear how a beautiful woman like Anya Chalotra changes anyone’s opinion of beauty, but we’ll see.

The Witcher Casting Director Explains Why Anya Chalotra Was Cast

We all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there are obviously still beauty standards that permeate society. The epitome of objective beauty in The Witcher is supposed to be Yennefer of Vengerberg.

The casting director of the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher decided to take this opportunity to cast an Indian woman to embody this ideal of beauty.

I remember saying, “I think we need to challenge what people consider the standard of beauty.” And having a woman of color in that role does some incredibly powerful things for people watching.

This casting choice is supposed to challenge.

Having the embodiment of beauty in The Witcher represented by a woman of color sends a powerful message to other people of color. Although we’re not 100% convinced that this role really defies beauty standards; Anya Chalotra is conventionally beautiful.

The Fall Guy: release date, casting and tears for Taylor Swift

I’m a simple girl: I see Ryan Gosling starring in a new movie, it piques my interest. If he’s sitting in the car crying about Taylor Swift, even better. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming comedy The Fall Guy, including the release date and cast.

The most important part should always come first: yes, Ryan Gosling will take off his shirt in The Fall Guy – no need to thank me, friends. The walking thirst trap and tried-and-true man of the people will lead the upcoming remake of ’80s series The Fall Guy about Hollywood stuntman Colt. Because doing fake stunts for a living isn’t enough, he also works as a bounty hunter. Sure thing.

The fall guy | Trailer and release date

It’s not only the 30th International Day of the Sun (no, that’s not an invention), but also the day to go to the movies: The Fall Guy releases worldwide on May 3, 2024. It’s also pretty fitting since the final episode of The Fall Guy aired on May 2, 1986 – but enough fun facts, here’s the trailer:

To answer another important question: yes, he listens to the Taylor version of All Too Well, as he should. Mark May 3 in your calendars if you want to know if he’s listening to the 10-minute version (look, if Elden Ring fans can make up stuff about Taylor Swift, so can I).

The fall guy | Cast

This movie has it all, right? Incredible marketing. But it is not only Ryan Gosling as stuntman and bounty hunter Colt Seavers who should get you excited for the upcoming film, there’s also Emilie Blunt like Jody Moreno. She’s Colt’s ex-girlfriend, so there’s definitely some stuff to unpack here!

The cast also includes Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Stephanie Hsu And Therese Palmer. Also, for those of you who saw the original show, the OG Colt Seavers Lee Majors also makes an appearance!

  • Until Dawn got a movie: wait, what?

    News

The Fall Guy will be directed by David Leitch – he’s the guy behind Bullet Train with Brad Pitt And a real stuntman. The screenplay was written by Drew Pearce, who not only is the creator of No Heroics, but also worked on Iron Man 3. Quite a cast and crew we have here!

The fall guy | 80s Show Vs. New movie

In the ’80s, The Fall Guy ran for five seasons and had a new criminal to catch each episode – with plenty of action, of course putting Colt’s stunt skills to the test.

The 2024 version is loosely based on the original, but still promises to retain the original charm of over-the-top action, comedy, and a bit of romance to match. Here is the official principle:

He’s a stuntman, and like everyone else in the stunt community, he explodes, shoots, crashes, gets thrown through windows, and falls from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an accident that nearly ends his career, this working-class hero must track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy, and attempt to win back the love of his life while continuing to make his daily work. What could possibly be going on?

To see exactly what will go well (or not…), make sure to See you at your local cinema on May 3!
