The Crown of Thorns in Destiny 2 is an item that you will need in one of Shadowkeep’s side missions.

As you explore the Moon, you will take on a series of “Essence” missions, with a variety of tasks related to the Moon or Nightmare.

To complete the Essence of Vanity quest, you’ll have to find the Crown of Thorns inside the Night Chamber – a location that, at first glance, is not entirely obvious.

Where to find the Night Chamber in Destiny 2

Before we start, it is worthwhile to track this mission – although it will not guide you to the location, it will highlight the Crown of Thorns when you approach.

First, we have to reach the Night Chamber, an underground location deep within the Moon.

To get there, start at the Anchor of Light and follow the passage further east.

You will then arrive at Temple of Crota.

Enter the Temple and follow the location until you go down some steps and end up in a greenish area with many routes to follow.

At this point, go to the right and continue to the exit at the end.

This will take you to The World’s Grave.

Continue on this path until you reach a dead end with a staircase on the right – go up and continue through the passage on the left at the top.

Continue on this linear path, passing through a baseboard in the middle of the room on the other side, until you end up in a corridor that gets darker as you descend.

This will take you to the Night Chamber.

How to find the Crown of Thorns in Destiny 2

Now that we’ve found the Night Chamber, it’s time to find out the location of the Crown of Thorns.

This is quite easy – the Night Chamber is a linear (quite long) strip full of enemies, and you will have to reach the end.

If you played the original Destiny, everything around you will be very familiar as you move around.

Eventually, you will end up in a large open area with a rib-like structure on the right.

If you are tracking the quest, at this stage a marker should appear that takes you to a cave directly in front of you, in the furthest place.

At the base of the wall, interact with a command that says ‘Pick Up Weapon Part’ to obtain the Crown of Thorns.

Oh yes – there is also an Ogre here, in the cave! Now, you only have to complete the remaining Essences of Vanity missions.

At the beginning of Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, there is a bug that you can find that blocks your progress.

Once you have completed the opening mission, A Mysterious Disturbance, you will unlock Moon as a destination.

From here, you will have to visit the destination of the seller, Eris, who will give you the second mission. However, if you are like us, it is possible to not receive the mission properly due to a missions bug. If so, you can see below how to resolve the situation.

How to solve Eris’s mission bug in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep

When you visit Eris for the first time, you will be given some details about the story that takes you to the second mission, In Search of Answers.

Once accepted, you will then receive a Quest Step and be tasked with tracking, with a banner at the bottom entitled ‘Shadowkeep Campaign Tracking’.

However, when you open the Director and then your Quests diary, it will not be there, and the banner will continue to persist once you cannot select it.

Although the banner will disappear if you leave the location, this next mission will not appear on Moon.

So, how do you solve the Eris campaign mission bug? The answer is: it was sent to the Postmaster. Head to the Tower and it should be there waiting for you.

We assume that if you have a number of missions or bounties in your inventory this will happen – a problem that veteran Destiny 2 players will face.

Now that you have accepted the In Search of Answers mission, you can continue to play the Shadowkeep campaign. The scare is over!
