After breaking the record number of 626 games entered, the BIG Festival, the largest games festival in Latin America, announces the list of finalists selected for the BIG Awards of the 11th edition of the event. In all, the Festival Committee selected 110 games from 28 countries for the 18 different categories.

Brazil is the country with the most games at the festival, with 26 nominations in all, and competing in 12 categories, including two games nominated for Best International Game, the most prestigious award at the event: Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles and Dungeon Drafters.

Some games stood out in the jury’s evaluation and received multiple nominations. Titles like Dead Pets Unleashed, from Denmark; SEASON: A letter to the future, from Canada; Stray Gods, from Australia; and Canada’s Sunday Gold were nominated for five different awards. All of them are on the Best International Game list. Among the games produced on Brazilian soil, the highlight goes to Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, which was nominated in the Best Sound, Best Brazilian Game and Best International Game categories.

“We are very happy to continue breaking records at each edition of the BIG Festival. This year we received 626 games submitted from over 50 different countries and that is just a reflection of the success of not only BIG but the industry as a whole. It is a demonstration of how the game development sector has been getting stronger every year”, says Gustavo Steinberg, director of the BIG Festival. Seeing so many national games being chosen as finalists in several categories, including Best International Game, is very rewarding. This only reinforces the competence of all professionals in the country and the solidification of Brazil as a creator of games”, adds the festival director.

In addition to the exposure and prestige that the games receive at the festival, the winners of the Best Game, Best Game: Latin America and Best Game: Brazil categories will receive, in addition to the trophy, cash prizes worth R$5,000. The public will also be able to participate in the selection of the Best Popular Vote Game, where the winner will be awarded R$ 3 thousand. To vote, the public must test the game at the festival and, at the end of the game, will be able to vote for that title.

All selected games will be able to be played by BIG Festival visitors at the face-to-face event and part of them can also be tested online, free of charge. The BIG Awards, the awards ceremony, will take place on the stage of the event on June 30, at 7 pm, and will be broadcast online for free for all game fans.
