With the launch of Last Epoch 1.0, you may experience issues such as stuck on the login screen. To help you get back into the game, I’m going to explain how to fix the connection issue and why it might reappear.

If you are unable to log in, make sure to completely close Last Epoch and restart the game. In some cases, it may even be beneficial to restart Steam entirely and then try again. Whenever the login screen is on an infinite loop, there is a good chance that server issues are present and you will be waiting on this screen forever. When this happens to me, I close the Last Epoch process completely so I can skip further questions.

There have been times where I close the game, and on a second restart it would crash or put me back into a login loop. This is exactly why I close the process directly, which works almost every time for me. An update might even be available for download the next time you close Last Epoch and Steam. Once you are on the latest version, you can try going back to the characters screen where this problem occurs most of the time.

Even if you manage to get past the login screen, there’s still a chance you’ll get stuck with the “Online Game Unavailable” message. This will also appear on the character select screen and is a direct result of more server issues for the game. In this case, I would recommend taking a break or simply trying a character offline. You may not be able to use that same character online, but at least you can start collecting more loot.

Last Epoch had a rough launch day due to server issues, and as an apology, there’s a free autumnal scarf cape that players can claim as their own. This guide will tell you how you can get the cape and where to equip it.

Everyone who played Last Epoch on release day will automatically have access to the free Autumn Cloak in their Appearance inventory. Eleventh Hopur Games has already confirmed that players who were there during the launch will receive the cape as a gift due to server issues that have persisted for hours. No specific date was given for when players had to be in the game to get the gift, but it’s a safe bet that anyone who tried to log in will get the cape.

Unlike other rewards, there are no additional steps to collect the Autumnal Scarf Cloak in Last Epoch. The giveaway will roll out in batches, so if you don’t see it in your appearance tab yet, just wait until after you log back in. Server issues continued to be an issue on the second day of Update 1.0, so don’t be too surprised if you wait a little longer for your gift. On the bright side, the issues are certainly better than they were on day one.

To equip the Autumnal Cloak itself, open your inventory and select the Appearance tab at the top right of the screen. In this section, you can right-click on any of the equipment slots to open the styles you own. Most players will have empty slots for each of these. But if you received the free cape in Last Epoch, it will appear in the back slot. Right-click on the back slot and choose the Autumnal Scarf so that it appears on your character.

For those who find themselves constantly on the go, or maybe you don’t want to sit in front of your computer after work, the Steam Deck proves to be a massive boon. But can you play Last Epoch on Steam Deck?

Does Last Epoch work on Steam Deck?

Surprisingly, yes. You can launch and play Last Epoch on Steam Deck with minimal hassle, as the game already has partial controller support. Although many in the community find the portable experience to be above average, developer Eleventh Hour Games does not officially support the Steam Deck. They’re a bit busy finishing the game and adding additional content to the ever-expanding endgame dungeons and arenas. As such, Last Epoch is listed as “Unsupported” in the Steam Deck Compatibility section.

But don’t let that stop you! Download the game to your Steam Deck, run it in Experimental Mode, and you’ll soon find yourself grinding to max level in Last Epoch in no time!

Notable issues with Last Epoch on Steam Deck

That said, Last Epoch on Steam Deck is not a smooth experience. At least, not yet. The ARPG is not officially supported, so it is not properly optimized for Valve’s portable system. You can still download and play the game with minimal effort.

Notable issues with the game include:

  • Occasional graphics issues and fragmentation
  • Small text and user interface
  • Random crashes with too many enemies on screen

  • Offbeat menus

  • The sound cuts out from time to time

Overall, aside from crashes that could potentially corrupt your progress, most of these issues prove to be minor and are easily overlooked if you actually want to play the game. And it’s important to note that many of these issues have appeared in a sparse manner, in addition to the issue of small text and user interface. Otherwise, most people had a positive experience with no problems!
