If you have both hands full, smart speakers are a real relief in everyday life in many places. A voice command and the corresponding command is carried out. You can also make and receive calls via your smart speaker. What still works easily with Amazon Alexa requires a small detour with Apple’s HomePod.
The HomePod does not natively support direct voice calls via WhatsApp. However, you can send WhatsApp messages via the HomePod if you use WhatsApp on an iPhone that is connected to the smart speaker.

If you haven’t already done so, make sure your iPhone is connected to the Apple HomePod via Bluetooth. In the linked article we show you how to do this. Once everything is set up, you can send your voice command directly to Siri on the HomePod.

To send a WhatsApp message, say “Hey Siri, send a WhatsApp message to person XY”. Of course, this person must be in your WhatsApp contact list. Additionally, you can create shortcuts for Siri to automate messaging.
