Despicable Me 4’s joke about AI in its latest spot that is sweeping the internet: “This is something the Minions could really do”

It could only be them. The latest trailer for Despicable Me 4 shared on the occasion of the Super Bowl has revealed a truth that until now we had not considered: the culprits behind all those grotesque images generated with artificial intelligence are, in reality, the minionsthousands of them.

“AI is changing the way we see the world, showing us what we never thought possible, transforming the way we do business, and bringing family and friends closer together,” states a voiceover dubbed by Jon Hamm at the opening of the clip, while several AI-generated images, including one of Steve Carell and Will Ferrell in royal attire, are the protagonists of the montage. “With artificial intelligence, the future is in good hands,” they add at the end.

The objective of the joke is none other than to make it clear that behind these tools there is no complex technological device, but rather a legion of countless minions working tirelessly to create the most horrendous images possible. What’s more, even the Despicable Me 4 logo itself has been created by the minions. Just look at the details of the “generated texts”.

After several controversies in Hollywood about the use of this type of tools, this trailer for Despicable Me 4 has been quite popular on social media, with people applauding that this is something the minions could really do, while others wonder if Really, those images in the spot have been made by someone or are AI. The movie premieres this July 3.
