Uncharted 4 and the management of artificial intelligence in multiplayer

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End still has a way to go before its release since we only saw a short presentation during the PS Experience. We saw Drake in action killing bad guys, climbing walls or even using his whip like a certain Indiana Jones.

We haven’t seen any gameplay regarding multiplayer yet, which at this point is understandable since it’s better to focus efforts on singleplayer. However, we have some details on this multi through a job offer, where the person will work on the movements of the player, artificial intelligence and the network.

“Artificial Intelligence” draws attention, since it is commonly used for non-playable characters. It’s possible that Naughty Dog integrates a co-op experience like the co-op missions available in Uncharted 3.

For your part, do you find it relevant to have an online mode for this franchise? Would you like the return of these co-op missions?

[UPDATED] : iOS 17: multiple timers, load management for EVs, Podcast…

iOS 17: multiple timers, load management for EVs, Podcast…

Like every year, Apple slips in very many new functions that we discover over time: multiple timers, EV charging, Podcast.

Multiple timers

The function was eagerly awaited by some users -especially in the editorial staff-! Indeed, iOS 17 finally supports multiple timers simultaneously (un hard-boiled egg, a soft-boiled egg, a soft-boiled egg).

Each timer may have its own name in order to be identified in the list that is displayed. Besides, the latter will also include any recently completed timers. When multiple timers are started simultaneously, they will all show up on the lock screen. For iPhone 14 Pro, only the last set timer will appear in the Dynamic Island.

Charge your EV via Maps

At WWDC 2020, Apple announced a new feature for electric vehicle owners in the Maps app. It took a little time before arriving on the iPhone. Indeed, it only appeared last year on the Ford Mustang Mach-E, then with the Porsche Taycan.

With iOS 17, Maps should allow you to configure your preferred charging networks for your EV. We will obviously start with the USA, and we can choose from a long list of options, including Electrify America, Chargepoint, and Tesla’s Supercharger network. Apparently there are other charging options compatible with his car.

Revamped Podcast

Apple has slightly revamped the interface of the Podcasts app, with a new waiting screen, as well as more search filters. These changes are also available with iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma.

The refreshed interface is more modern : instead of a white or gray background, the screen Now Playing displays a blurred version of the podcast cover (we find the same thing on the side of the Music app and the Health app). tab Listen now has also been updated, still with the same gradient. The Up Next function is also improved.

The chapter list now shows exactly how much time is left before the next one and the length of each -which is more convenient. Note also the possibility of displaying images by chapter. During playback, the podcast artwork appears smaller just below.

The App Store shows the time left to download an App on iOS 17

With a more than dense WWDC 2023 opening keynote, Apple did not have time to present all the new features of the next OS, and some are therefore revealed as they come.

App Store shows remaining time for download

With iOS 17, the App Store benefits from a small novelty, but which could prove interesting in certain circumstances. In effect, Apple’s app store now displays the time remaining before completing the download in minutes and seconds on top of the pie chart. This time only shows on large downloads, or when your connection is too weak to complete the operation in seconds. This information could therefore be interesting if you want to install a heavy program when your speed is low, for example to make sure that your battery level will be sufficient to complete the download.

iOS 17: ten years after Google, Apple Maps can download maps for offline use

The next major iOS update will be very beneficial for Apple Maps. the user will finally be able to download maps locally and use the application without an Internet connection.

It’s no secret. Apple Maps, the mapping application for iPhones, has always lagged behind the competition. And more particularly in front of Google Maps. Over the past few years, and iOS updates, Apple has stepped up efforts to improve Maps.

With iOS 17, the Cupertino company should catch up a little more. It will integrate into Apple Maps one of the most anticipated features of users.

Ten years after Google Maps

Because until now, without an Internet connection, Apple Maps was in the cabbage. More than ten years after Google integrated it into Google Maps, Apple will introduce, in Maps under iOS 17, an option to hard download an area of the map. So you can (finally!) use the application on your iPhone even if you are far from any Internet connection. Maps from Apple Maps downloaded for offline use will include all the information you normally find. Excellent news if you are used to traveling abroad and your operator’s data envelope is limited or does not cover the countries you are traveling to.

You will always be able to obtain the duration of your routes or even access notes for places and points of interest. Importantly, Apple Maps turn-by-turn navigation will continue to work for all your routes (driving, walking, biking) for all offline saved maps. By default, maps can only be downloaded from a Wi-Fi connection. However, it is possible to use mobile data, provided you select the appropriate option in the application settings.

In addition, Apple Watch owners will be able to access maps downloaded locally to their iPhone whenever it is nearby.

The manipulation to be carried out to download maps from Apple Maps offline is quite similar to what Google Maps offers. You must therefore select your avatar to access the options of the application. You will then need to tap Offline Maps and then choose Download New Map. Apple Maps will then display a box through which you can choose the area of the map to download. You will then only have to press the Download button to save the map on your iPhone. Note that maps downloaded locally on the device are automatically updated when Apple makes changes to them.

Apple has also announced other new features to come for its mapping application in iOS 17. Apple Maps will thus introduce a new function thanks to which you will be able to view, in real time, the availability of charging stations for electric vehicles on your route. .

Windows 10 and Windows 11: Find and use disk management

Windows 10 and Windows 11 only show so-called logical drives in File Explorer. These are disks with a drive letter and a file system supported by Windows.

  1. Find Disk Management using the context menu
  2. Open Disk Management via Computer Management
  3. Open Disk Management via command

In order to be able to use new hard drives or removable drives without formatting or to divide a physical disk into several partitions or logical drives, you need disk management.

We’ll show you three different ways you can quickly find and open Disk Management.

Please note: In this guide we are using screenshots from Windows 10. However, the steps are the same in Windows 11 as only the window design has changed. The specified menus, key combinations and buttons are identical.

Find Disk Management using the context menu

  1. 1

Probably the quickest way to find Disk Management is to right click on the start button. There you can conjure up the disk management directly with another click.

Open Disk Management via Computer Management

  1. 1

Unfortunately, a Windows search for disk management does not return any results. Since Disk Management is a subprogram of Computer Management, you can just search for it instead.

  2. 2

You can then display the disk management by selecting it in the left menu under “Data storage” in the main window.

Open Disk Management via command

  1. 1

With the command “diskmgmt.msc” you can also open the disk management directly via the search field. However, since the command is not easy to remember, this variant is probably more for professionals who use the tool regularly.
