Ecovacs offers its customers practical smart home devices such as vacuum and mopping robots, window cleaning robots or robotic lawnmowers such as the Ecovacs Goat G2. With the practical devices you can make household work easier and save time. It’s even more convenient and quicker if you operate your devices with voice control.

  1. Voice control in a roundabout way

  2. Connect Ecovacs devices with Siri

  3. Voice commands to your Ecovacs devices

Voice control in a roundabout way

Most Ecovacs models can be connected to a voice assistant such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa via the Ecovacs Home app. Things are different with Siri. Here you have to know how to help yourself differently, as there is currently no integration of vacuum robots into Apple’s HomeKit.

Connect Ecovacs devices with Siri

Alternatively, you can connect your Ecovacs vacuum robot and Apple’s voice assistant by installing the Ecovacs Home app and the shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad and using them for operation. We’ll show you how to do this.

This is how you connect Ecovacs devices with Siri

  1. 1

    Opens the Ecovacs Home app.

  2. 2

Then go to the shortcuts app, which you can find on the home screen of your smartphone under the downloaded widgets.

  3. 3

Then press the + sign to add Xiaomi Home as a new widget to your app.

  4. 4

You can save your shortcuts in the app and use them with the connected Ecovacs vacuum robots.

Voice commands to your Ecovacs devices

If you give the shortcuts and voice commands to your Ecovacs devices, you have to start with “Hey Siri” so that the voice assistant can react to your voice. If you can’t think of any suitable ideas for operating your little household helpers, we have some suggestions for you here:

  • Hey Siri, stop vacuuming/cleaning
  • Hey Siri, stop vacuuming/cleaning.
  • Hey Siri, continue vacuuming/cleaning.
  • Hey Siri, pause the cleaning process.
  • Hey Siri, let the robotic lawnmower mow the lawn.
  • Hey Siri, what’s the current status?

Do you want to know how often you should vacuum with the robot vacuum to maintain a clean home? We have the answer! If you are worried about the potentially high electricity costs of your little household helper, we also have helpful information for you.

Connect Roborock with Siri: This is how you use Apple’s voice control in a detour

The various vacuum and mopping robots from Roborock are practical helpers in the household and can make your everyday life easier. Roborock models can be connected and operated with some voice assistants, making integration into your smart home even easier.

Since Apple HomeKit, as the central hub for all smart home devices, does not yet offer a corresponding category for vacuum and mopping robots, you have to take a detour with Apple’s Siri in order to connect the voice assistant with your Roborock robots.

Control Roborock with Siri

Before you start connecting, you should download the Roborock app on your smartphone or tablet. Unlike Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, the voice assistant Siri is not listed in the Roborock app, but there is an alternative. All you have to do is install the shortcuts app and connect it to the Roborock devices. We’ll show you how it works:

Via the Shortcuts app

  1. 1

First download the shortcuts app and set it up.

  2. 2

If you open your Roborock app and go to your profile, you will also see “Voice Control” in the listing.

  3. 3

So far only Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are listed as options there. At this point you can activate the Siri shortcuts, provided you have set up the app.

  4. 4

On the home screen of your smartphone you will find the installed shortcuts app in the widgets. By pressing the + sign, you can add a new widget like Roborock to your app.

  5. 5

After you have connected the Roborock app to your shortcuts app, you can execute the saved shortcuts via the Roborock devices.

Voice commands to Roborock robot vacuum cleaners

Using targeted voice commands to Siri saves you time and means you don’t have to operate your robot vacuum cleaner manually. Always make sure to say “Hey Siri” before you start using your shortcuts so that the voice assistant can react to your voice. If you still need inspiration, here are some suggestions for you:

  • Hey Siri, let the robot keep vacuuming.
  • Hey Siri, the vacuum and mopping robot should stop cleaning.
  • Hey Siri, send the robot vacuum cleaner back to the charging station.
  • Hey Siri, send the robot to the bathroom to mop.
  • Hey Siri, turn the vacuum and mopping robot back on.
  • Hey Siri, start the complete cleaning with the vacuum and mopping robot.

If you’re still looking for suggestions for Siri shortcuts, we have some handy automations for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. If you are not yet familiar with Siri shortcuts on the iPhone and iPad, we have a short introduction to this topic.

Xiaomi: Connecting the vacuum and mopping robots with Siri – is that possible?

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi provides a little support in your daily housework with its vacuum and mopping robots and makes your everyday life easier. The practical devices can also be easily connected and controlled with a voice assistant. There are a few things to consider.

  1. Apple’s Siri is the exception

  2. This is how you connect your Xiaomi vacuum robot with Siri

  3. Voice commands to Xiaomi vacuum robots

Apple’s Siri is the exception

In order to integrate your little helper into your smart home and operate it using voice commands, it is usually enough to go to the settings of your Xiaomi Home app. This works with voice assistants such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa directly via the app.

With Apple’s Siri, however, it’s not that easy. Since Apple does not yet offer the integration of robot vacuum cleaners into their HomeKit, you have to take a small detour in order to be able to control your robot vacuum cleaner with the voice assistant.

This is how you connect your Xiaomi vacuum robot with Siri

To connect your Xiaomi vacuum robots to Apple’s voice assistant, you should first download the Xiaomi Home app and the shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad. Then follow our instructions:

Connect via the Shortcuts app

  1. 1

In the Xiaomi Home app you will find the “Voice control” section under your profile.

  2. 2

At this point, the only possible options for voice assistants are Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

  3. 3

Because of this, you have to use the shortcuts app that you have installed on your iOS device.

  4. 4

You can find the downloaded shortcuts app in the widgets on the home screen of your smartphone. Press the + sign to add Xiaomi Home as a new widget to your app.

  5. 5

Since you have linked the shortcuts app with the Xiaomi Home app, you can pass on the shortcuts stored on it to the connected Xiaomi devices and operate them.

Voice commands to Xiaomi vacuum robots

The shortcuts to Siri help you save automatic processes and thus save time when operating your Xiaomi vacuum robot. Always start with “Hey Siri” so that the voice assistant can react to your voice. You can then start the cleaning process in your household with the following suggestions:

  • Hey Siri, send the robot to vacuum.
  • Hey Siri, the vacuum and mopping robot should start cleaning in 10 minutes.
  • Hey Siri, send the robot vacuum cleaner back to the charging station.
  • Hey Siri, send the robot to the kitchen to mop.
  • Hey Siri, turn the vacuum and mopping robot back on.
  • Hey Siri, start the complete cleaning with the vacuum and mopping robot.

If you want to find out more about the difference between robot vacuum cleaners and mopping robots, we have listed some of the advantages and disadvantages of the different models. Are you worried that the little household helpers are energy guzzlers? We will provide you with detailed information about the power consumption of vacuum robots.

Connecting Qobuz with Siri: party music on command – is that possible?

Thanks to various unique selling points, Qobuz is definitely an alternative to large music streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer and Co. Nevertheless, the service is less well known compared to its major competitors. This also raises the question of whether such a “niche service” is effective in terms of compatibility. Apple users in particular have to be careful here.

For example, if you want to play music from Qobuz with Siri via your Apple HomePods, we have to disappoint you at this point. Qobuz is not compatible with most smart speakers, including Apple’s HomePod devices. Furthermore, you cannot play songs and other content via the voice assistant Siri.

Play Qobuz via Bluetooth via HomePods

At least you can still connect Qobuz to Apple HomePods. However, playing music only works via the Qobuz app, which you have to install on a device connected to the smart speaker. You can find out exactly how the connection to the smart speaker works in this way in a separate article on how to connect your Apple HomePod via Bluetooth.

If you play music via the Qobuz app, it will sound through the speaker. Are you not an Apple fan but use smart home products from Amazon or Google? We’ll show you how to connect Qobuz to Alexa and pair it with the Google Assistant.

Dreame Smart Home: This is how you control your household appliances with Siri

Dreame is a Chinese manufacturer of practical household appliances such as wet and dry vacuum cleaners and cordless vacuum cleaners. If you have a Dreame vacuum robot, you can easily connect and control it with a voice assistant.

Voice control of your Dreame smart devices makes your everyday life much easier as you save time and have your hands free. If you have previously used Apple’s Siri in your smart home, there are a few special features that you need to pay attention to in order to use the voice assistant with your vacuum robot.

Apple’s voice control as a special case

Connecting your Dreame devices to various voice assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa should usually be easy via the Dreamehome app or the MiHome app. It serves as a control center for your smart home products.

Things are different when using Siri, as there is currently no integration of vacuum robots into Apple’s HomeKit. However, you can take a small detour to link your household helpers and operate them with Apple’s voice control.

Connect Dreame devices to Siri

Before connecting your Dreame devices to Siri, you must install the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad. Then download the MiHome app or the Dreamehome app. Also remember to connect the Dreame devices that you want to operate with voice control in your respective household app beforehand.

This is how you connect your Dreame devices to Siri

  1. 1

The first step is to open the “Automation” tab in your MiHome app.

  2. 2

Then go to your “Profile” at the top.

  3. 3

You must first allow this automation on your devices via voice control and confirm access. This means there is no need to unlock your smartphone to give voice commands. You can do this via the MiHome app.

  4. 4

Or you can confirm access via your home screen and then via the widget tab.

  5. 5

When you’re done, click on the + sign at the top of your MiHome app under the “Profile” section.

  6. 6

There you set up an “if-then automation” by clicking on the first option.

  7. 7

Then you choose from the list of your devices.

  8. 8th

Next, you look for a specific command for the respective device.

  9. 9

Then just press “Save” at the top right.

  10. 10

After you have given the command a name, click “OK”.

  11. 11

Under your “Profile” you will see “Add to Siri” in the top right corner. If you can’t see this section, you need to update your MiHome app or bring your iOS device to the latest version that supports shortcuts via Xiaomi.

  12. 12

You can then use your voice control using the shortcuts to Siri and easily operate your devices.

  13. 13

When you use certain shortcuts, the connected devices will respond accordingly.

Voice commands to Siri

You can simplify the operation of your smart home devices with targeted voice commands to your voice assistant. If you have not only connected your vacuum robot but also your smart lamps to your MiHome app, you can issue a variety of different commands. Remember to always say “Hey Siri” first. Here are some ideas:

  • Hey Siri, turn on the lights on the desk.
  • Hey Siri, stop vacuuming/cleaning.
  • Hey Siri, continue vacuuming/cleaning.
  • Hey Siri, pause the cleaning process.
  • Hey Siri, good morning!
  • Hey Siri, what’s the current status?

Your Dreame vacuum robot can also be easily controlled with Alexa. You can find out how this works in our detailed instructions. If you prefer to use Google’s voice assistant, we will explain to you how you can operate your Xiaomi vacuum robots with Google Assistant.
