Far Cry 3 already had a weakness for surreal side missions, for example when you had to perform certain tasks while under the influence of drugs. Also in the fourth part there are now some levels that are completely out of the world and come with a unique look. The narrative substructure for this is the Buddhist paradise Shangri-La, which can be accessed at various points in the Far Cry-4 Himalaya.
This subplot begins with the second mission that you do for the British drug enthusiasts Yogi & Reggie who have taken up residence in the Ghales’ house, southeast of Shanat. The symbol for the two on the map is the “Y”. With this you start a storyline in which the aim is to restore a family heirloom of the Ghales: the so-called thangka, a Buddhist scroll painting whose space on the wall is now empty. There are five parts of it to be found and with each one you find, Ajay experiences a “vision” that you link as a level in the Shangri-La. Here you relive the story of the seeker Kalinag, who is supposed to find Shangri-La on behalf of his ruler. Visually, this quest line has some of the most impressive moments in the entire game.
Your (optional) task is therefore to find the Shangri-La-Thangkas marked on the map, which is not too easy because the hiding places are always very mountainous and the accesses to them are rarely clearly visible on the map. They are also so high up that it is not possible to simply reach them from the air with the gyrocopter.
So here is the description of how to get to the thangkas that will lead you to Shangri-La.
First Shangri-La-Thangka: Kalinag’s Wisdom.
You can hardly miss that. Yogi and Reggie show you the way. Hang under the hang-glider and sail west from the cliff towards the target marker. After a good 900 meters you can already see your destination below:

You should get far enough in gliding. For a precise landing, open your wingsuit 100 meters from Kalinag’s wisdom, if you have one, and open your parachute shortly before impact. Once the opponents have been cleared out of the way, you go inside, where you will find the thangka and your first flying visit to Shangri-La begins. The Shangri-La levels are playful and straightforward and, especially at the beginning, are designed for takedowns. Unlike in the rest of the game, these are usually still possible after the demonic opponents have already seen you, so you don’t have to sneak a lot. The friendly tiger, which you can set on your opponents, is also great. Later on, the magic bow, which can slow down time and ultimately even fire several arrows at once, plays a bigger role.
Second Shangri-La-Thangka: Kalinag’s Descent
Now it’s getting trickier: The second thangka is located south of the Ghales house, east of Chal-Jama monastery and northeast of Varshakot. Find a short north-south river on the map that, on closer inspection, will turn out to be a waterfall. You have to go there. Your access to this is to the northwest of it, near the clouded leopard area marked on the map.
The climbing starts here.
Run up to the steep face to the south, climb it and keep an eye out or perk up your ears for the noises of the big cat living here, whose paws on the neck would be an unpleasant surprise for any hiker. You finally come to a crevice in which a huge rock has rolled:
Don’t forget your helmet!
Keep to the left in the column. On the other side you will see a climbing opportunity on your left that you use directly:
And don’t overtake on the mountain path!
After climbing a few slopes and balancing over a tree trunk, you finally arrive at Kalinag’s descent. Look down the hole. Below is water that is deep enough to save yourself climbing down. Just jump in and you will find the second thangka.

Third Shangri-La-Thangka: Kalinag’s Gate
The third Shangri-La-Thangka can be found on a plateau in the far west of the map. There is also the possibility of approaching from the south, but that is much more complicated than, for example, flying with a gyrocopter around the plateau on its north side. To cut a long story short:
It starts here!
At this point at the latest you should have mastered the use of the climbing hook, because this passage requires you to throw your climbing hook while swinging from one anchor point to the next.
Take courage!
The entrance is at the end of the route and is guarded by some Pagan Miners’ henchmen. But nothing that should pose major problems for you. There is not much reason or opportunity for stealth here. A surprising hand grenade clears the way just as well.
Come in.
Fourth Shangri-La-Thangka: Kalinag’s trump card
The fourth thankga is waiting in the south of the northern map after you have completed the last mission for Willis and recaptured the bridge. It is best to take a boat to drive the southern river to the following location on the map.
From here you will soon reach a steep face that you climb up to the top. Here you have to prove your mountain safety once again when you throw the hook from one anchor point to the next. That shouldn’t be a problem anymore. At the end of this route you have found Kalinag’s trump card and the fourth of the Shangri-La levels.
You know you can do it.
Fifth Shangri-La-Thangka – Defeat Rakshasa
For the fifth and last thangka you have to go to the north of the northern part of the map. This access is also quite high up. Park your vehicle as shown here on the map and work your way up the green areas. If you come from the other side, the wall for climbing can also be reached from a little further east.
For one last time!
At the top you have to swing to the left from one anchor point to the next, which is quite difficult because there are some treetops in the way. If you have attached a hook, you have to pull yourself up a little directly so as not to fall.
It’s this way.
At the end it goes a little downhill until you come to a hole into which you can lower yourself. You also have to be a little careful when rappelling. What is hard to see: Halfway down there is another anchor point on the wall behind you, which you should definitely use so as not to accidentally fall the last few meters.
The final Shangri-La level is mostly a boss fight against the winged demon Rakshasa. If a blue vortex blows around him, he summons his henchmen. Set the Tiger on at least one of them and do the rest with chain takedowns as fast as you can. Because as soon as Rakshasa opens his beak and you can see fire, you have to shoot an arrow in his throat. After three hits he crashes and you send the tiger on him. He jumps into his beak and lifts him up for you from the inside: Another arrow and the cycle starts all over again, only with more enemies and more fireballs from Rakshasa.
Down on the border of Faith Seeds territory in Far Cry 5 You’ll find the scariest place of all – an automated haunted house where a treasure trove of money and perks is hidden. The area is called ‘O’Hara’s Haunted House’ and is one of the coolest places to visit in Hope County, Montana.
As the name suggests, it is a real haunted house! You will walk through a linear corridor while “jum-scare” scenes play around you. As is the case with most real haunted houses, this one is pretty lame – there are screaming guys banging on walls, vans that almost run over the player, and animatronics crawling on the walls and ceiling. But it’s funny and a real surprise. Who would have thought that Ubisoft invested so much time and effort into an area that many will simply overlook or ignore?

To find the spooky house, you’ll need to head to the border between Faith’s Region and John’s Region in the southern part of Hope County. Locate the big red bridge (Henbane River Rail Bridge), which is located northwest of the Dead Man’s River is located.
Next to the bridge is an abandoned building called O’Hara’s Haunted House.
Haunted House Prepper Stash
Find the note/clue next to the large barn doors to begin the Prepper Stash side mission. Climb onto the roof of the house using a box.
Drop down to the construction area with the external scaffolding – climb through the open window. Press the power switch to open the door to the haunted house itself.

Far Cry 5 Vehicle Guide
You will need a vehicle in Far Cry 5 if you intend to cover the massive map of the game very quickly or use helicopter firearms and rockets to clean up a place of worship without major complications. To obtain a vehicle in Far Cry 5, you must follow the corresponding marker on the map for the vehicle you wish to purchase.

How to unlock Helicopters and Airplanes in Far Cry 5
