Finding the right gear for your character is a bit like finding an exploding barrel among a crowd of enemies. You don’t need to look far either, as Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) offers players a plethora of opportunities to prepare. And when you play as a monk, you need to make sure everything you equip is up to par. There are some interesting points to remember when thinking about what to equip, and we’ll make sure you’re fighting with enemies that are already on alert. So let’s be patient and take a look at the best gear for Monk in BG3.
Best Equipment for Monk in BG3
There are a few things to note when looking to get new equipment for your monk. In addition to obvious things like Ki, a monk has three exclusive feats: dexterous attacks, deft strikes, and bonus unarmed strikes. The one to especially pay attention to is the Unarmed strikes. Attacking as a Monk grants the player the ability to make multiple unarmed attacks in a single turn. This can be very helpful as it also depends on the type of equipment you should be looking for. All this to say that monks should consider having Clothes like their equipment, with bare hands and potentially a stick or simple ranged weapon.

To go into more detail, clothing is the only type of equipment your character should wear, as monks are not proficient in any type of armor. Additionally, the functionality Defense without armor gives players an armor class boost when not wearing armor. It uses Wisdom as a modifier to increase AC, but you’ll want to refrain from adding every class point to it from the start. You’ll also want to put some points into Dexterity, as Unarmored Defense also stacks with it. Garments can be found throughout your journey, but for a monk-specific piece of gear, we recommend acquiring the Garb of Earth and Sky at Wyrmcrossing at the start of Act 3. Combine all of this with a ranged weapon, and you’re sure to deal huge damage, even in Tactician mode.
