[HOT] : MechWarrior 5 – How to use a controller and change your speed Part one

MechWarrior 5 – How to use a controller

Don’t be fooled by the image above: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries fully supports the use of an Xbox handcuffs if you prefer to trample one. All you have to do is plug one in, basically.

MechWarrior automatically detects and responds to Xbox controllers.

Just plug your controller into your PC and the game will recognize it immediately. He just won’t feel that way for a variety of reasons. On the one hand, the controller does not interact with the menus. He also doesn’t control your character in the MechBay, at least not as he should (he tries to treat him like a mech, and since humans don’t have a throttle, he won’t move).

Load up a mission and you will find that the controller is working there, despite the menu entries saying “none” for some actions. You can remap however you like, but the basic layout works quite well. You cannot map combination prompts, so you will still need your keyboard for some actions.

That said, controlling a robot with your gamepad is pretty straightforward: the left stick handles your throttle and legs, while the right stick affects your torso and aim. Both triggers and bumpers are assigned to weapon groups one through four, and the face buttons allow you to refocus your robot (A for torso on legs and B for legs under torso), zoom (X ) and the Y button allows you to scroll through groups of weapons. This works in tandem with the d-pad, where the weapons move up and down, and move left and right between different groups. Clicking the left joystick to activate your jump jets (if you have any) and clicking the right will cycle through the targets.

It should be noted that I have not been successful with direct input controllers.

This is how to use a controller in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. For more guides, be sure to keep an eye out for our guides page.

MechWarrior 5 – How to change your speed

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is your first foray into the mech genre, and you don’t know how to handle your speed like you randomly plow in a warehouse. There are a few keyboard shortcuts and options you need to know, and they will make it easier to control your robot’s speed.

Use W and S to increase or decrease your acceleration, or the numbad to choose a percentage.

W will increase your acceleration, while S will decrease it or put you in reverse. The accelerator indicator on the left next to your paperdoll shows how fast you are currently, and each line represents a percentage. If you want an exact percentage for your speed, you can use the numeric keypad to select one. It works as you might expect: one for ten percent, two for twenty percent, etc. You can use them to set a speed you’re comfortable with during a fight, allowing you to focus on your movements, your legs, and your goal.

That said, you can also press the Add key on the numeric keypad to activate Throttle Decay. This means that your throttle – your speed – will automatically decrease to zero after releasing the W key. This can be useful for quick adjustments, but it may take a while for new players to adjust, as you have to put your throttle on. feathered to maintain the desired speed.

Additionally, you can press G to go at the current rate of your lance, although this tends to be at maximum acceleration. Use it to follow your lance, since maximizing your throttle is fairly easy to do with W. Remember that your speed will decrease when you get into something you won’t be able to plow, but turning will increase your speed. ‘accelerator to where it was. The same goes for walking through things – you’ll slow down as you walk through a building, but you won’t need to revert to your previous speed once you’ve walked through it.

And here’s how to control your speed in MechWarrior 5. For more guides, be sure to keep an eye on our guides page.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

For some, MechWarrior is a religion.

I was first introduced to the show in the 90s by a guy who had what I can only describe as a “battle station”. His chair was rigged with joysticks on his arms. He was wearing a force feedback vest when his robot was hit. He was even working on a jury-rigged VR device years before it was popular. You could say he was the perfect gateway to the show.

For me, the BattleTech universe really clicked when I formed my own MechAssault team and became the highest ranked player in the world (no one could beat my catapult) on a ranking system that was pre-MLG, pre- esports. So when MechWarrior 5 was announced I was ready for it.

Need for Speed Unbound: Play split screen for two on one console?

Can you play the new Need for Speed Unbound in split screen? Is there a game mode in NfS Unbound that allows two players to play together on a console in front of a TV with one player offline? This may be the question asked in the last few days by one or other player who has bought the new Need for Speed part for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One or even the PC. In addition to a single-player mode with an extensive campaign, the game of course also has an extensive multiplayer mode. When it comes to multiplayer, the question that often arises is, what does offline multiplayer actually look like and can you also play NfS Unbound in split screen?

Offline multiplayer and split screen?

The short answer to the question is, no, the new Need for Speed Unbound does not have offline multiplayer. As in the last NfS part Heat, there is no split-screen mode in the new Unbound where you can play together with another player on one screen. This applies to both the PC and console versions on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Since NfS Heat didn’t get split-screen support even after the release, you probably shouldn’t have the highest hopes that anything will change in the new NfS Unbound in the future. If you want to play Need for Speed Unbound with friends, you can only do so via online multiplayer. Thanks to crossplay support, you can now play together on the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series regardless of platform.

If, contrary to what is currently expected, something changes regarding offline multiplayer and split-screen mode, we will of course add the information here.

Need for Speed Unbound Lower wanted level: delete heat level?

Anyone who has already driven one or two races in the new Need for Speed Unbound will certainly have already made the acquaintance of the police. Depending on the offense or which race you have run and whether it is day or night, the wanted level can increase from 1 to level 5. While it is usually quite easy to outrun and escape the police at the first two levels, it becomes more difficult at the higher levels. This is partly because the police are reinforced with better vehicles and there is even a helicopter circling above you, which you can’t shake off so easily. In this situation, the question often arises: How can you lower the wanted level and get rid of the police completely?

NfS Unbound: Lower the wanted level and delete it?

If you manage to get out of the police’s field of vision and escape, the wanted status remains intact and the police continue to search for your car. While most races increase the wanted level, especially the night races, there are also some activities that can reduce the heat level. This includes some activities such as taking a car from A to B, which can be used to reduce a heat level of 5 to level 3. Otherwise, you can only lower and reset your wanted level by either going to a garage or hiding place and taking the money you earned during the session to safety, or by allowing yourself to be arrested by the police. If you get caught by the police and arrested, then the money you earned in the session is lost.

Unlike in other racing games or open-world games like Grand Theft Auto 5, in NfS Unbound you cannot get rid of the wanted level from level 2 onwards and completely remove it by simply hiding somewhere, turning off the engine and waiting. There are also no NPCs or buildings where you can lower or reset the wanted level for payment.

If you can’t escape the police at wanted level 5, we have a little trick on the next page that you can use to always escape the police.

Tip: You can use this trick to quickly earn money in Need for Speed Unbound.

Need for Speed Unbound change music? Skip song?

Anyone who has spent an hour or two in Lakeshore City will probably have noticed the music in the background. Depending on what other music you listen to, one player likes the soundtrack quite well and another doesn’t like it so much. The question arises, how can you change the music? Are there such things as different radio stations and how can you introduce or skip a song?

Change music and skip song?

Yes, you can change the music in Need for Speed Unbound, but for whatever reason you have to change a setting in the audio settings.

  1. Open the pause menu in the game and open the settings.
  2. In the “Audio” settings you will find the “Free driving music” option a little further down. By default the setting is “Automatic”. Music is played permanently using “Always”, but you can then skip a song using the control pad to the right. There is no manual selection of a song; you simply have to skip through the playlist.
  3. By the way, there are no radio stations in Need for Speed Unbound, just the soundtrack, which you can skip through as described above. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently remove individual songs from the playlist in the game.

Insert your own music?

Similar to its predecessor in the form of NfS Heat, you cannot insert your own music into the game in the new NfS Unbound. There is no folder where you can simply move an MP3 file and then play it in the game. An alternative would be to disable music in the game and then leave Spotify or another streaming service running in the background (works on PC as well as PS5 and Xbox Series).

Need for Speed Unbound Clear save: Restart story

How do you delete your savegame in the new Need for Speed Unbound? How to restart the story and start again? This may be the question asked in the last few days by one or other player who recently bought the racing game from Electronic Arts for the PC or console and now wants to start the story from the beginning. If you start the game and look for an option like “Create a new savegame” or “Delete a savegame” in the main menu or in the settings, then you won’t find much at the moment. The question arises, is the function just well hidden or is there no way to delete the save game or create a second save game?

Reboot NfS Unbound Story and start again

The short answer is, no, unfortunately you cannot delete the save file directly from the game. This applies to both the PC version and the console version on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. As in NfS Heat, the developers have not created an option in the new NfS part to directly create a second save game or delete the old one. But don’t worry, because there is of course the option to delete the save file outside of the game.

Delete saved game on PC

If you play Need for Speed Unbound on the PC and want to start the story from the beginning, you have to proceed as follows.

  1. Quit the game, open Windows Explorer and open the directory “C:\Users\username\Documents\Need for Speed(TM) Unbound)” (username must be replaced with your own Windows username).
  2. In the folder you will find the subdirectory “SaveGame” in which the game status is saved. You can now delete the folder or simply rename it (the latter makes sense if you want to keep the old save and restore it later).

Delete save files on PS5 and Xbox One

On the console you have to delete the saved game via the console settings.

  • PlayStation 5: Settings – Storage – Console Storage – Saved Data – Select NfS Unbound and delete data.
  • Xbox Series: Open my games and apps, select the game, use the menu button to select “Manage game and add-ons” and then delete the game status under “Saved data”.

Since, as mentioned above, there was no way to delete or reset a save file directly from the game in NfS Heat, you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up that this will change in the new Need for Speed Unbound.

Apple Maps now shows speed limit

In the Netherlands and Belgium, you can now see the maximum speed in Apple Maps. This is indicated on both your iPhone and on your CarPlay screen if you use this.

The feature was introduced years ago in China and the US, and later became available in other countries. In recent years, the expansion of speed limits in Apple Maps has been part of Apple’s new proprietary map stock. Now that the updated Apple Maps is available to everyone in the Netherlands and Belgium, the speed limits in Apple Maps have also become visible.

Apple Maps in the Netherlands and Belgium

In the Netherlands and Belgium, the speed limits in Apple Maps are visible on a large number of roads, but not everywhere. Once the information is known, the maximum speeds will be shown at the top of your screen. The maximum speed is also shown via CarPlay.

Apple Maps does not show your own speed. Some navigation apps do have that function, which makes it easier for yourself. In the case of Apple Maps, you just have to keep an eye on your own speedometer.

There is no list of the roads on which the function does and does not work, you have to try that yourself. In any case, the function works on many N and A roads. The speed is not displayed on the roads where the maximum speed changes during the day. The function is therefore only for roads that maintain the same speed limit throughout the day.

Long hoped

Many users have long hoped for this feature, now that it is here it may be disappointing for some users. Not because the function does not work on all roads, but mainly because the maximum speed shown may not always be correct. Although this has not yet happened in the Netherlands, it is a warning that you should never rely on it 100 percent.

If you do see the wrong maximum speed in Apple Maps, you can report this as a problem to Apple.
