New player from Apple and new improvements in current iPods
According to some rumours, Apple is considering launching a new MP3 player that is smaller and has a different format than the current iPod. Also other rumors report that the new generation of iPod could include radio.
According to numerous Asian sources, analysts Thomas Weisel and Jason Pflaum have reported that Apple will use new semiconductor chips from the company SigmaTel for a new player to launch before Christmas.
The new player will be different from the iPod and iPod Mini in that it will use a Flash memory card. This new system offers less storage capacity but may provide an opportunity to create a smaller and slimmer device than iPod models, the company says.
On the other hand Apple is considering adding new “extras” to the iPod, and until now they had some competing players.
Apple’s iPod division is looking for a “Radio Frequency hardware engineer”, which suggests that the iPod could include radio in its next version.
Apple is looking for someone with “knowledge of communication circuits and an interest in the physical principles used in modern radio communication devices, knowledge of modulation, scrambling, compression, or encryption,”
Remember that last month Apple also looked for two engineers with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi experience.
